What is Migraine? It’s Causes and Preventions

Anyone who suffers from migraine knows how painful the problem is. A migraine is very much different from headaches; the pain is much severe and is mostly followed by other symptoms as well. The extremities of pain can actually hamper the person from following their daily work routine. 
A migraine can result in severe throbbing pain mostly on a particular side of the head along with nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to sound and light. One shall not take migraine lightly. There are certain migraine treatments that can relieve the causes of migraine and cure the pain to a great extent. You can also find medicines that can help in getting relief from pain caused due to migraine to a great extent. It is always good to consult a doctor, describe your symptoms and ask for treatments that can provide relief. Along with medications, changes in habits and lifestyle can prove to be life-changing for people who suffer from migraine attacks.


However, first let us discuss a few things that trigger a migraine.

Triggering factors/ Causes

The cause of a migraine is not determined yet. However, it is believed that a migraine is triggered by certain unusual activities in the brain. As a result, it can change the way nerves function in the brain moreover, heredity may be one of the reasons to be more prone to triggers that cause a migraine.

Medicines: Certain medications may like birth control & sleeping pills can trigger migraine.

Hormones: Changes in hormones especially at the time of the menstruation cycle.

Emotional imbalance: Anxiety, depressions, and stress are some of the reasons for emotional imbalance and may trigger a migraine.

Physical imbalance: Exhaustion, improper sleeping pattern, bad posture, severe shoulder or neck pain are some of the triggers of migraine.

Diet: Caffeine and alcohol consumption are related to triggering migraine. Foods like chocolates, cheese, citrus fruits are related too. Other than not having meals and water from time to time are also some of the reasons.

Environmental factors: Loud sounds, wavering light, strong smells, are some of the factors that trigger migraine. Changes in the temperature and blazing lights can also be the triggering.

Preventions

The best thing to do is to avoid all kinds of triggers that may cause a migraine. However, not always you can avoid the triggers and not always they will be effective. But with some preventive measures can definitely help you in tackling up with a migraine.

Schedule your daily routine

It is important to have a proper sleeping pattern in order to avoid migraine. Eat food when you feel hungry and have a proper meal plan.

Exercise more often

Exercise can prove to be an amazing stress-buster. Try to be more active this will not only keep you fit but also improve migraine symptoms. Make sure to regularly indulge in some kind of aerobic activities.

Decrease the effects of estrogen

In women increased levels of estrogen can induce a migraine and worsen the situation. So, it is good to avoid any kind of medicines that trigger estrogen levels.

Hot or cold therapy

Hot or cold therapy can be very relaxing for a person who has symptoms of a migraine. However, it depends what you find the best. For some people, ice packs work the best while for some hot bottles or sun can be relieving.
